Day 5 of 21 Days of Prayer

Nov 14, 2025    Dylan Coyle

So often in our prayers, we keep things general. Reflect on some of the prayers you often pray or hear prayed… “Lord, be with ______.” “God, would you help them?” “Jesus, please do what only You can do.” This is so often the type of language we use when presenting our requests to God, and don’t misunderstand, these prayers aren’t bad prayers. It’s just that, in this passage where Jesus is teaching on prayer, He’s encouraging us to be specific. Let’s look at verses 11-12… 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
