Day 7 - ‘Enlarge My Territory’: The Prayer of Jabez

The prayer of Jabez may seem selfish at first glimpse. However, if you take Scripture seriously when  it says that Jabez was honorable, desired God’s hand upon himself and asked God to enlarge his territory - then you can see why God answered it!

We might feel guilty asking God to enlarge our territory - after all, that seems quite selfish. However, if our hearts are set on the things of God, it is those who have enlarged influence that can often leave an outsized mark in the world and make a great difference. I know that I want God to enlarge my territory (think resources, influence and impact) because I believe that I will do my best to honor and glorify God with it. If that’s your desire too - pray this prayer with confidence and joy “God, enlarge my territory!”
